Short pages for the pairs people search. Each one answers who the tool is for, names one downside, and prints a price only when we checked it on the official page.
Lovable vs Cursor, Supabase vs Firebase, and Cursor vs Claude Code already have guides. Those guides stay the canonical page, so they are not repeated here.
Bolt vs v0
Pick Bolt.new when you want to watch the files appear and still stay in the browser. Pick v0 when the screen is the job and you will add a database later. Bolt's free plan is a token budget. v0's free plan is 7 messages a day.
Lovable vs v0
Use Lovable when the thing you are building has to save data, log people in, or store a file. Use v0 when you are designing the interface and the database is a later step. Lovable's free plan counts build credits. v0's free plan counts messages.
Lovable vs Bolt
Choose Lovable if the win is a working app and you do not need the files in front of you. Choose Bolt.new if you want the same kind of prompt, plus a project you can read. Both paid plans start at $25 a month. The free plans are not the same unit.
Bolt vs Cursor
Start in Bolt.new if you do not have a project yet and you want a site from a prompt. Move to Cursor when the files are the place you want to work. Bolt Pro is $25 a month. Cursor Plus is $8 a month, and that Plus plan does not include Claude.
v0 vs Cursor
Use v0 to generate a screen and deploy it to Vercel. Use Cursor to change a codebase you already have. v0 Plus is $30 per user a month. Cursor can start at $0, and Plus is $8 a month for Cursor's own models only.
Supabase vs Neon
Both are hosted Postgres. Supabase adds auth, file storage, and a table editor on the $0 plan, and a free project pauses after a week idle. Neon is the database itself, it scales to zero after 5 minutes, and the free plan includes auth up to 60,000 monthly active users. Pick Supabase when you want the backend extras. Pick Neon when the app code already exists and the missing piece is Postgres.
Supabase vs Convex
Pick Supabase if you want SQL, a table you can open, and login included on the free project. Pick Convex if you want a backend where queries update the UI, and you are fine leaving SQL behind. Supabase Pro starts at $25 a month per project. Convex Professional is $25 per developer a month. Those are different bills.
Firebase vs Neon
Firebase and Neon are not the same database. Firebase Spark stores documents, needs no payment method, and includes hosting with a custom domain. Neon Free is Postgres, 1 GB per project, and compute scales to zero after 5 minutes. Use Firebase when you want Google's no-cost quotas and documents are fine. Use Neon when the app expects SQL.
Clerk vs Supabase Auth
Use Clerk when sign-in is the piece you want done, and the database lives somewhere else. Use Supabase Auth when you already chose Supabase for the data, because auth is part of that project. Clerk Hobby includes 50,000 monthly retained users and cannot remove branding. Supabase Free includes 50,000 monthly active users. Those are not the same unit, so do not treat the caps as equal.
Vercel vs Netlify
Both will host a frontend from Git. Vercel Hobby is $0 a month and includes a fixed amount of CDN traffic and function time. Netlify Free is $0 and spends a 300 credit budget on deploys, bandwidth, and compute. Pro is $20 a month on both. The meters are different, so $20 does not buy the same thing. This page is hosting. It is not the v0 product.
Lovable vs Carrd
Use Carrd when the whole job is one page and you are willing to edit it by hand. Use Lovable when the page has to become an app, with saved data, from a prompt. Carrd Pro Standard is $19 a year. Lovable Pro starts at $25 a month. Carrd is cheaper for a simple page. Lovable is the one that builds the product behind the page.
Carrd vs v0
Pick Carrd when you already know the page and you want the cheapest way to put it on a domain. Pick v0 when you want to describe the layout and get code that deploys to Vercel. Carrd Pro Standard is $19 a year. v0 Plus is $30 per user a month. Carrd will not generate the page for you. v0 will not give you Carrd's simple form-to-Mailchimp setup.
